Preschool/Childcare
Description
The Early Education Center offers child care and education for families with children 18 months to 5 years old. We consider all of our classes to be preschool, because at every stage of development the child is learning. We also offer before and after school care for elementary students K-6th grade.
We see our Pre-Kindergarten program as an essential preparation for children prior to entering the Kindergarten year. There are so many social and developmental skills that are developed and strengthened in the Pre-Kindergarten class in order to maximize the Kindergarten year and indeed the elementary and secondary years. We offer all of the necessary components for a positive experience for your child. We provide a safe and structured environment to explore, socialize and share. Taking turns, raising their hands to speak and standing in line are only a few of the social skills our Pre- Kindergarteners begin to develop.
All students need structure and well-defined expectations. The emphasis is on the fundamental skills of numbers, letters, colors, reading and writing. We believe that positive and exciting teaching promotes positive and exciting learning in students.
The Vision
To strengthen and develop New Hope Christian School as an innovative PK-8th Grade Christian school dedicated to excellence by partnering with Christian families and churches in educating the future Leaders through Christ-centered training, application and example.
CURRICULUM - Pre-K
Utilizing the Creative Curriculum program, we want children to become independent, self-confident, curious learners who can work well with others. We're teaching them how to learn, not just in preschool, but all through their lives.
Language Development
The objectives of this area is to improve verbalization and develop effective communication, to sharpen perceptual abilities and to develop the habits and skills necessary for reading and writing. The following activities are used to achieve these objectives: Visual identification of letters, a sense of rhythm, eye-hand coordination, story sense and memory sequence, and following instructions. Children develop an interest in books and while they are not pushed beyond their readiness, some children are reading by the end of the Pre-Kindergarten year.
Personal/Social/Emotional Development
Children develop effective social skills, positive attitudes towards others, self-confidence, self-discipline and self control within their class environment. This is accomplished through direct instruction and interaction with others both in the classroom and throughout the school. Children enjoy center and free time during the school day.
Mathematics
Pre-Kindergarteners build up a math vocabulary such as all, some, many, few, tall, short, big, little, round, triangular, as many as, fewer, shorter, taller, first, last, etc. They count by rote to 50 and learn number concepts up to 10. They learn to associate the number symbols and their meanings up to 10 and to write number symbols up to at least 9. Additionally they learn to handle and to form sets/groups of objects and pictures up to 10, recognize the six basic shapes and eight basic colors. They learn to recognize and apply spatial concepts such as in, out, up, down, above, below, over, under and recognize concepts of time such as day, night, days of the week, months of the year.
Music and Art
The children listen to and participate in singing. They show creativity in the use of materials as they express themselves with art and a variety of media. Activities also encourage the development of a sense of rhythm.
Bible
Children are exposed to many Bible stories and songs. They identify the lesson in these stories and apply them to real life situations. The children also memorize scriptures and pray for themselves and others.
P.E. and Playtime
These activities, which include running, hopping, jumping, eye-hand coordination with throwing, assist the children in their gross motor development. They play a variety of games and learn to share toys. They grow in self control and independence.

Parents
The partnership of teachers and parents for the training and education of the young child is of paramount importance. Children develop an attitude of kindness, willingness to share and respect for other people and their property.
Parents are welcome to visit the classroom and get involved, share a story with the class, or tell us about their work experience.
